Hi! I’m back – did you miss me? I’m not getting any better at regular blog posts, am I? So much has happened since the spring and in subtle ways, although we are in the same place, doing the same things, life has changed quite a bit. But that’s for a future post. First let … Continue reading Bathroom Numéro Deux

BOG OFF
Well, here we are then – already a month into 2018! Can you believe it? It’s been a while since I posted something on here, I know. Never having even succumbed to a head cold in 40 odd years I’d always prided myself on being immune to winter bugs, but a dose of flu laid … Continue reading BOG OFF
The bathroom is finished!
Total make-over of upstairs bathroom – tick! Oh, if only it were that easy! If you've been following this blog for a while you'll know that we started this project, part-time, back in February. Ever since we first moved into Moulin de la Roche, last October, we’ve been intending to totally re-do the main bathroom … Continue reading The bathroom is finished!
Back to the building site
Given that it’s nearly five months since I last did an update on our renovation progress, you might be wondering what we’ve been up to in all this time? Although it’s been a long time since my post in March, we’ve actually only spent 3 weeks in France between then and our current visit. So … Continue reading Back to the building site
The best laid plans…

When we first visited the mill in April the owner was ‘asleep in bed’ and … Continue reading OMG, we have heat!
If at first…

I can always do with some of that, but our latest brain-teaser was a bit more involved. One large tree trunk + unusually low river levels = severely damaged water … Continue reading If at first…
La vie en rose
Usually I consider it to be a really good thing to be able to see things from another person’s point of view. It would really save an awful lot of trouble in the world if we could all see things through others’ eyes. But recently I realised that it isn’t always that simple. A few weeks … Continue reading La vie en rose
The next chapter begins…
“So what happened next? You left us all hanging! You need to keep posting” Last weekend we were out celebrating a family birthday, back in England, when the birthday boy surprised me with this question. It’s true, I’ve neglected my blog - Workaday life very quickly got in the way, as soon as we got … Continue reading The next chapter begins…
Why am I writing this?
In 2002 Colin and I had only been together for a few months when we decided to spend a couple of weeks camping in France. As we toured the beautiful areas along the Loire and Cher rivers I fell in love with the country all over again and the seed of an idea began to grow.
